Bellotto Wine Farm

The area of Lison was a woody area in the previous centuries, therefore its development and transformation was slow and difficult. The lands which were plought, were owned by few noble families, especially Venetians, who administrated them through farmers. The Venetians used the trees to supply themselves with big amounts of wood. From the end of 1800 to the beginning of 1900 a vast area could still be seen covered with woods of the “Acquanera” (still existing today) and of the “Frassinella”, the last remains of the big woods which covered the area from the banks of the “Tagliamento” river to the “Livenza” river. After the mid 1800s news came of definite cultivations of vines in this area: White grapes, particularly Tocai, red grapes such as Cabernet, Refosco etc.

The Bellotto wine farm is situated in the heart of the D.O.C. region Lison-Pramaggiore, near Portogruaro. The vines grow in a surface area of up to 14 hectares. The firm belongs to and is run by the family Bellotto.

Furthermore our winery hosts the rooms for the production and bottleling and other ones are situated below the ground level in order to conserve the wines.

The production includes, above all, wine types such as: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tocai, Lison Classico, Malbec, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Merlot.

The red wines produced by the Bellotto winery in the D.O.C. area of Pramaggiore is characterized by their intense aroma and robust personality. In fact, the type of soil rich in calcium and in clay has a great impact on the wines of this territory, a considerable substance which gives them a fine sensation and a touch of colour.
